Fitzpatrick Family Vineyards
Girls say: Bubbles. Need we say more? Fitzpatrick specializes in them, after being in the wine business for years, and you can go see all the lovely bubbles aging in their caves. Then you can eat wood-fired pizza on the deck overlooking Okanagan Lake.
They say: After 27 years of developing CedarCreek Estate Winery into one of Canada’s premium wineries resulting in two Canadian Winery of the Year awards, the Fitzpatrick’s have transformed their historic Greata Ranch property into a stand alone boutique winery offering remarkable on-site hospitality experiences. The new winery, named Fitzpatrick Family Vineyards, is located just south of Peachland and will focus on traditional method sparkling wine of exceptional quality, but also produce a selection of estate grown still wines.
Girls say: The Hatch is, in our humble opinion, the coolest winery in the Okanagan. By cool, we mean smart, quirky, laid-back with kick ass wine - and art. It’s like… the love child of Prince Edward County and punk rock. And they have a wine collab with Pam Anderson. Plus - they do shovel-sabre-ings. A must.
They say: The question I get asked the most often is ‘what is ‘the hatch’’ and why. That’s a terrific question to ask when trying to ascertain exactly what it is we are, and what we’re doing. So no better place to start than (finally) answering that oft asked question. What, pray-tell, is ‘the hatch’. On a direct level, ‘the hatch’ is a tasting emporium, an emporium the likes not seen before here in The Okanagan. But on a meta-level, ‘the hatch’ is the culmination of dreams had by a group of eccentric grapeophiles who have lived and learned the way of the vine for countless years. On a direct level, ‘the hatch’ is an inviting, warm, rustic and entertaining ‘shack from the future’ that invites anyone to come by, try some wine or to just enjoy their lives for however long they can spare to spend with us. On the meta-level, ‘the hatch’ is the launching point for a variety of remarkable, unique and rare wines that are certain to set a new level for quality and enjoyment in our fair valley. Directly, ‘the hatch’ is a beautiful location with one of the most ridiculous views of the region that has ever been seen. On the Meta, ‘the hatch’ is the absolute culmination of the wants and dreams of a select, rare and bizarre cadre of people who are unconcerned about the convention and now have a chance to show the world exactly what real wine, real hospitality and real people are all about. ‘the hatch’ is the direct confluence of all our favourite arts; the liquid arts, the visual arts and the living arts; finally together and together forever.
That answers the ‘what’, but also asked is the ‘why’. Why ‘the hatch’? Because the time is long overdue for something like this to enter your life, and more-so; to make your life that much better. Now it’s time to shut-up and go drink some wine.
Girls say: Summerhill is an Okanagan icon. They’ve been making wine organically since the incredibly-intriguing owner Stephen Cipes purchased the vineyard in 1986. The wine is aged in a pyramid, the food you can eat on their wide-open patio overlooking the lake is organic, and the vibe is a mix of hummingbird and hippie. Trust us - it’ll become your second home when in the Okanagan.
They say: We set out to make the most beautiful wines in the world; starting with organically and biodynamically grown grapes from the pristine Okanagan Valley, handling them with love and attention, allowing them to ferment naturally to retain the highest levels of antioxidants, and finishing the wines in our Pyramid Cellar built with precision Sacred Geometry and aligned to the stars to create a structure of stillness and harmony.
Our ambition is to bring pride to all Canadians. I’m thrilled to have witnessed this vision unfold with our portfolio of Cipes sparkling wines and Summerhill red, white and icewinesbeing awarded among the wine world’s highest honours, including trophies and gold medals from France and England, as well as a special trophy naming Summerhill “Canadian Wine Producer of the Year” at the International Wine & Spirit Competition. All this for allowing nature to speak for herself! She does speak… and we listen. There is divine purpose in every blessed drop.
